Error correction: from past to present

The lecture discusses the main stages of development of the theory of correcting codes. There are four main stages. Discusses methods that have played a key role at certain stages. Analyzes the reasons for defining these stages. The theory of correcting codes is interpreted as the language of information transmission in technical systems, its role in the creation of modern systems of transmission and storage of information. Parallels between technical and natural languages are traced.
