Perspectives and threats of quantum information technologies

Extensive progress in the development of methods for manipulating the degrees of freedom of individual quantum objects opens up fundamentally new opportunities in the field of information transmission and processing. The report will consider two main research directions in the quantum information technology field: quantum computing and quantum cryptography. We will consider the current development status of these directions, the main problems facing scientists and engineers, the immediate prospects, as well as the threat of scalable quantum computers to the existing "classical" information infrastructure.
