Point and Signal

Why and how mathematics is applied to information transmission? I plan to tell which mathematical problems arise in the theory of error-correction codes and in cryptography, which questions of number theory and algebraic geometry that can interest a mathematician are rooted in the information theory. The most part of the talk will hopefully be understandable for non-mathematicians.
